Materials:
Thread: Orange Danville's flat waxed nylon
Hook: Mustad 3407 Dt #6, 5/32 brass bead, .020 lead free wire
Tail: One fiber from orange car wash mitt
Flash: Orange Estaz UV lites
Legs: Orange/ Chartreuse sili legs pulled from spinner skirt
Body: Orange underfur from "Lucky Leprechaun Drinking Hat" beard dubbing loop
Step 1: Debarb hook, slide on bead, place in vice, wrap five turns of .020 lead free wire, snug wire up to bead
Step 2: Select fiber from orange car wash mitt,
Step 3: Strip fibers to expose core and tie in
Step 4: Tie in estaz and wrap two turns. Tie off and trim
Step 5: Locate and remove 4 legs from silicone skirt
Step 6: Tie in two legs per side, orange extending rearward the length of the tail, directly ahead of the estaz. Continue to wrap thread forwards, separating orange from chartreuse approx 3/16"
Step 7: Locate ""Lucky Leprechaun Drinking Hat" from closet.
Step 8: Remove underfur from beard using dog brush
Step 9: Create thread loop, insert underfur, spin into noodle, advance thread to front of fly, half hitch behind bead.
Step 10: Wrap dubbing forward, tie off, trim, whip finish
Step 11: Brush out dubbing using wire brush or equivalent
Step 12: Tie on to tippet with canoeman loop knot, fish
Note: This fly was invented on St. Patrick's day and is intended to be a joke. However, since it is tied on a duratin hook, I will be tossing it in front of snook come this summer. Gar definitely like it.
