Good morning guys,

I just posted another Step-by-Step on the blog and thought I'd share.

This week's tutorial was a Bendback Minnow streamer. Admittedly, these are more often associated with largemouth and saltwater species than UL rods, but they're light enough that I thought some of you may be able to take advantage on your 3wts or even 2wts. The version shown is tied on a #1 saltwater hook, but I was easily able to fish it on my 3wt Carbon XL. If you drop the hook size down to 4 or 6, this is easily a UL friendly pattern.

Here's a link to the entire post for those who might be interested:

Pics are below.

I'm jealous of that Costa Rica trip!

Another great post!

I picked up some of those Umpqua pre bent hooks awhile back. Haven't tried them yet, but this has inspired me.

Nice tie! Bendbacks as a style have always been my most effective bass flies.
I always liked the anecdotes in this blog post about them:

I usually don't actually bend the hooks anymore, just counterweight them like in the redfish rattle fly, which you also have a step-by-step on :)

Speaking of, you've been busy there's a whole load of interesting flies you tied up and didn't tell us about! Murdich minnow with bastardized materials? Electric chicken? Half and half? Yes please!

Thanks Strummer! Let me know how they work. I'm curious about those hooks, but hadn't gotten around to picking up a pack yet.

Thanks, lka! Appreciate the link. That is a wonderful anecdote.

And my apologies for being behind on sharing. I'll do a better job of it moving forward as I have a few warmwater patterns I'm currently putting together.
