Well, we've hit the point in the year where it's getting too hot to fish in south Louisiana. (Seriously, the thermometer in my car flashed 122 F yesterday afternoon). As a result, I'll likely spend a large portion of the coming months at my vice, tying trout flies and dreaming of cooler climes. That means lots of new Step-by-Steps, starting with the pattern below: Andrew Grillos' Hippie Stomper.

A quality panfish bug as well, this little attractor pattern was first brought to my attention before a visit to CO in 2019. An angler whose blog I follow (Wellerfish.me) had spoken of the pattern many times, and, when I stumbled across some at the local cabelas the night before the trip, I added a few to the box. In the end, they proved killer on the cutthroat, brookies and browns encountered on that trip. Since then, they've remained a mainstay in my box.

Pics are below and more details can be found at the link.

Grillos' Hippie Stomper Step-by-Step

Enjoy!

Chris

Another great one!

We haven't hit 122 yet, but, yeah, this summer has been a hot one.

Thanks Strummer! I believe the air temperature at the time was hovering around 99 F. Second day in a row of that.

Thankfully, there's some rain in the forecast the next few days. Hopefully, it will cool things off a bit.

Chris
