I used elk hair for the Wing.  I took this chunk off the upper shoulder of and elk this fall!
You can use any color of deer hair that you want!  It's your fly!!
Image
This is a whitetail buck tail that I shot this fall!  I use it for the bottom color!

START
Image
Attach thread to hook.
Image
Attach bead chain eyes to hook shank.
You can easily cut two the eye set from the chain with a wire cutters or and old pair of scissors.
Image
Hold the eyes on top of the shank and wrap the thread over the eyes a few time to keep it in place.
I like the eye placement at about the 1/3 hook shank.  This will give you the room to tie everything in.
You will want to criss-cross your thread over the eyes.  Use tension.
When you have your eyes where secured, I like to wrap the tread around the eyes but not the shank and pull tension then wrap a few more times around just the shank
Head cement all of the wraps.
Image

Cut a very small chunk of hair from the deer tail, and tie it in front of the eyes.
I keep mine hair length about twice the hook length.
Use good tension and just secure it. We will clean up the head later.
The amount to use is up to you.  The more hair you use the little slower it has a tendency to sink.
I have notice if I use to much hair I have a hard time getting it secure and after fishing for a while it pulls out and the whole fly falls apart!
Remember this will be the Bottom of the fly when your finished

Now bring the thread behind the eyes and start wrapping the hair down to the shank.
DO NOT tie this in super tight.  We don't want the hairs to flair.
I lift up on the material as I wrap back to keep everything on top of the shank.
Again when I get the thread back to the eyes I like to do a few criss-cross wraps just to help keep that hair from pulling out.
Leave the thread in front of the eyes.

Image
Grasp the hook and flip it over and reclamp it in the vice. (I don't have a rotary vice)
Image
Tie in your flash just in front of the eyes.
The amount of flash is again your choice!

Image
Bring your thread closer to the eye, about and hook eye away.

Image
Cut your chunk of hair for the wing, and tie it in close to the hook eye but leave room to finish the head.
Whip finish or half hitches and head cement.
Again I like to keep the hair about twice the hook length and this wing should be a little bigger then the with under hair!

It's your fly...  See what you and the fish like!!!!

After

I like to cut the flies tail to a slight tapper.

Good Luck and have fun with tying these. Try different colors and sizes.
This size I can easily cast with my 3wt, and it doesn't sink to fast.

Yeah..............Thanks for posting, many tiers tend to put TOO MUCH deer-hair on Clousers. It is a case where less is more. Nice job I am sure those will work just fine...................Don S. in SC

The use of bucktails are quite stiff especially on tiny clousers. I have some on #12 3366 that I use for steels. I like EP fibers, Fox or squirrel tail better as it not as stiff.
