After the warm reception that greeted the baby sparkle sculpin, here it is, all grown up...

While the pattern as tied would be a bear to cast with a 3wt, it isn't a difficult pattern to downsize to ultralight purposes.  Hope you all enjoy!  This section's been quiet lately, so I hope this livens things up a bit.Image

Cold,
Nice tie-I like it.
When I envision it as an ultralight pattern, I can see this tied on a size 8-10 2X hook. Perhaps,I would maybe try a fine guage lead wire for weight, a thin rabbit strip, and no doll eyes. Yes, I think I may give this one a shot.

Yeah, you could also replace the rabbit tail with mink or pine squirrel zonkers, omit the cross-cut, and do a dubbing loop instead of the polar chenille...it'd let you proportion the fly much better. Also, use a 3X long hook and shorter tail if youre after short-striking trout.
